Swire Properties announced today (6 November, 2001) the appointment of Jones Lang LaSalle as lead leasing agent for Cambridge House, the new office development that forms the latest addition to Swire Properties' dynamic Island East business district.
Scheduled for completion in April 2003, Cambridge House will contribute substantially to the business accommodation already available, and is the first development in Swire's Island East Portfolio since the successful completion of Oxford House in 1999. It will also offer a new restaurant to supplement the many others operating in the vicinity.
"Cambridge House will add approximately 200,000 lettable square feet of office space to Swire's existing 6 million sq. ft. portfolio," commented Anthony Couse, Regional Director for Jones Lang LaSalle. "This is going to be a quality business address, offering built-in, state-of-the-art resources and technology."
With a typical floor area of 6,700 sq. ft., the project will be one of the very few due for completion on Hong Kong Island during 2003, and will provide a rare prospect of relocation for Hong Kong's smaller companies, who have traditionally failed to take Island East into consideration due to its generally larger floor plates.
"We believe that Cambridge House will present tenants with a unique opportunity to acquire a significant presence in this exciting environment," said Mr Couse.
"We will initially target tenants from the finance and professional services sectors, who are increasingly considering Island East as an alternative location."
Remarked Mr Stephan Spurr, Director and General Manager of Swire Properties, "In the past, the choices of accommodation open to small and medium sized businesses have not been as wide as we would wish.
"Cambridge House has their interests at heart, and is expressly designed to establish a niche for them within our vibrant Island East community. Well serviced by a full range of amenities, Cambridge House offers many benefits and attractions amid environmentally friendly and highly desirable surroundings.
"It is a Triple 'A' building that incorporates cutting-edge technology consistent with the standards of excellence that have come to be associated with our office investment portfolio." Mr. Spurr pointed to the Island East Matrix as creating the preferred office address for organisations with visionary IT/Telecom infrastructure. "This is the largest private commercial campus in Hong Kong with seamless connectivity," he observed. "Cambridge House will add to the existing eight grade A office towers and three techno-centres."
The area is supported by a unique fibre network which links individual properties in the portfolio together. Benefits to tenants include: security, privacy, dedicated fibre connections; a neutral provider and a flexible & confidential service.
