The Home of Arts and Culture
It has always been Swire Properties' commitment to bring to Hong Kong an active arts and cultural programme for the enjoyment of the general public.
The Company believes that appreciation of the arts should be promoted in different forms and varieties. Over the last 30 years, the company has engaged in commissioning and collecting contemporary art pieces. Various art pieces are showcased in the Company’s various malls and offices for public enjoyment and appreciation.
Regular art and music performances, cultural events and exhibitions are held in the Company’s various shopping malls and premises so as to provide a creative and unique experience to all visitors.
The Company has a longstanding commitment to promoting arts appreciation. Keen to bring quality cultural entertainment to the community, the Company supported the Brazilian and Argentinean Festivals at Island East, both of which were well received by the public. In addition to regular lunchtime music concerts and the Friday Fest' jazz performances, innovative cultural activities such as Italian street painting and workshops on illusion art at TaiKoo Place have proved to be popular. In 2006, the first-ever Harbin Ice Lantern Festival in Hong Kong was staged at Cityplaza, promoting great interest in Chinese art and culture. In recent years, there are various art exhibitions and events held at Three Pacific Place and the Starstreet Precinct, in collaboration with local and international artists.
The Company is also committed to various educational outreach programmes. As a founding sponsor for Shakespeare4All, a not-for-profit organisation aimed at promoting children’s love for drama and the English language, it has provided opportunities for local primary students to participate in English drama productions. Through the popular Viva Vivace! Radio Drama Competition organised by Swire Organisation for Youth Arts, it serves to promote creativity among young people.
Artwalk
Besides art exhibitions staged at retail and office premises, artwalk tours are offered for individual and groupvisitors to promote arts appreciation. A stunning collection of artworks has been carefully collected and placed on permanent public display throughout the office lobbies of Island East, forming the Island East Artwalk.
This collection of local and internationally commissioned artworks concentrates on complementing the space for which each is intended. From paintings to tapestries and sculptures, many pieces in the Artwalk have a story or a meaning behind them. If you would like more information on the Artwalk, contact us.
