Environmental Achievements



Through the years, the Company has received the following local and international recognition for its environmental efforts:

  • 'Excellent' rating* of the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HK-BEAM). The buildings, in chronological order of the rating received, are:
  • Lincoln House (1998) - the first office building in Hong Kong to receive an 'Excellent' rating
  • One Pacific Place (1999) 
  • Oxford House (1999) 
  • Devon House (1999)
  • Dorset House (2000) 
  • Two Pacific Place (2001) 
  • Cityplaza Three (2001) 
  • Cityplaza Four (2001) 
  • Cityplaza One (2002) 
  • Cambridge House (2003) - the highest score achieved  
  • The Orchards (2003) - the first urban residential development to receive an 'Excellent' rating
  • Three Pacific Place (2004)
  • Festival Walk (2006) - a 'Platinum' rating achieved

*: From 2006 onwards, the highest rating in the HK-BEAM has been changed from 'Excellent' rating to 'Platinum' rating.

  • Oxford House in TaiKoo Place received the Grand Award in Commercial and Residential Buildings category of the Hong Kong Energy Efficiency Award (HKEEA) in 2006, organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. In addition, a number of awards were also received including:
  • Gold Award of HKEEA for Oxford House
  • Bronze Award of HKEEA for Festival Walk
  • Merit Award of HKEEA for Cityplaza One, Three, Four and shopping mall
  • Festival Walk received Honourable Mention Award of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Technology Award 2006 for its innovative chiller control system, in recognition of the project's energy efficiency.

  • Our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Report 2003 and EHS Review 2004 have received the ACCA Hong Kong Awards for Sustainability Reporting (Environmental Reporting Category) Commendation 2004 and 2005 respectively.

  • The Optimal Static Pressure Reset in Variable Air Volume Air-conditioning System, one of Swire Properties' energy conservation projects conducted in Island East, has received the following local and international awards:  

  • The Green Innovative Practice Gold Award of the 2002 Hong Kong Eco-Business Awards scheme
  • The 2003 Regional Technology Award of the ASHRAE 
  • The 2003 Hays Montrose President's Prize by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) 
  • Cambridge House in TaiKoo Place received an award under the 9th phase of the Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme 2002, organised by the Environment, Transport and Works Bureau, for consideration shown to the public and neighbours by providing a safe and healthy environment on and adjacent to the construction sites.

  • The Company's alternative proposal for the Central Waterfront - Swire Properties' Central Waterfront Development Concept Plan - received the 2000 Honour Award for Urban Design by The American Institute of Architects (AIA).

  • Taikoo Shing, the first residential development in Hong Kong to integrate landscaping some 30 years ago, won the prestigious British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) Principal Award for 1998, Overseas Category.
