Swire Properties breaks donation record in charity book sale

Swire Properties successfully held the “Books for Love” charity book sale from 18 to 20 April at ArtisTree in TaiKoo Place. The event, which featured more than 50,000 books on sale for HK$10 each, welcomed almost 15,000 visitors and raised more than HK$400,000 in three days, breaking both the records of donations and participants.

All proceeds were donated to The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong to support its “Treasure Trove” project, which aims to enhance and enrich the lives of local children by providing various types of support, including the provision of food and other daily necessities as well as subsidising extra-curricular activities.

More than 200 volunteers from the Swire Properties Community Ambassador Programme and The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong participated in the initiative. The three-day book sale was the culmination of the “Books for Love” campaign, which began with a three-month charity book drive that lasted from January to March 2013. During the book drive, drop boxes were placed in various residential and commercial properties managed by Swire Properties as well as five centres of The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong.

With the aim of promoting a love of reading in a green and affordable way and contributing to a meaningful cause, the charity campaign has, since it was first held in 2009, received an overwhelming response from Swire Properties’ clients, tenants and the general public.
