Swire's original plans for
the continued enhancement of TaiKoo Place envisaged greater
green open space and two, more community-friendly and
modern office buildings.
These plans were subsequently approved by Government in
1997 and 1999. In the meantime, the construction of nearby
prime office buildings included: Oxford House (1999),
Cambridge House (2003), and One Island East (2008). However,
after reviewing both its approved plans and more recent
developments in the area, Swire decided to further improve
on its vision for TaiKoo Place and to submit a revised
plan that addressed residential, corporate and environmental
concerns with viable and attractive 21st century solutions.
