Determining The Best Future For Hong Kong
  Current Plan

The current plan proposes that the harbour be filled to maximize land for more high-rise commercial development. This choice will:

  • extend the current urban pattern throughout the waterfront causing signature buildings to be lost among new development

  • block views and separate the water's edge from the existing central district

  • fill in one of the potentially most spectacular waterfront park sites in the world

  • fail to capitalize on the historic opportunity to create a striking waterfront at the city centre.

A New Vision For The Central Waterfront
image 2 The Opportunity to Create a New Waterfront

An alternative approach to the central waterfront captures the opportunity to create a world class waterfront environment and enhanced civic, recreational, art, and cultural activity around a graceful crescent park and boulevard.

    This plan will be:

  • a bold statement of Hong Kong's commitment to developing an urban environment of the highest quality

  • a dramatic public green space balancing the urban skyline nestled between the mountains and the sea

  • a great gift to the people of Hong Kong for their use and enjoyment for generations to come.
