This is Hong Kong's greatest opportunity to plan future civic uses and redevelopment around the natural, aesthetic, and economic value of the harbour.

Instead of repeating the existing urban fabric on additional landfill, which creates little civic value, our waterfront plan creates a world class park at the heart of the city.

The focus of the new waterfront is a graceful crescent park and boulevard stretching along 1,000 metres of the water's edge from the new Star Ferry Terminal to the Convention Centre. The crescent is enhanced by three generators of civic activity: the Historic, Arts, and Civic Corridors. Together these elements of the new waterfront build value by creating:

  • a public gathering place for festivals and celebrations

  • a framework for civic and cultural institutions

  • a dramatic sense of arrival by air, water and land

  • prestigious addresses for harbour view sites

  • waterfront retail and entertainment in a park setting

  • enhanced values in the Central and Wanchai Districts

  • a peaceful sanctuary from bustling city life

  • spectacular views of the ever-changing harbour.
