CASE STUDY: Risk Assessment - Roof Access

Before: a few sharp lightning poles creating stabbing hazards

After: lightning poles replaced by air terminal

In October 2007, a risk assessment was conducted at Cityplaza One on the access to the suspended working platform (gondola) from the roof. We identified and took steps to minimise potential hazards such as the lack of barriers when workers operate along the gondola track and stabbing hazards created by the sharp lightning poles.

Consequently we replaced the inner lightning poles by installing an air terminal and indicated more clearly the location of fall arresting system.

Works are planned for the second quarter of 2008 to install a walkway along the gondola track and place appropriate warning notices in the area. We will continue to conduct comprehensive risk assessment of all identified works as our target in 2008.
