An exciting three-day event showcasing the power of artistry and innovation
Today Liberatum and Swire Properties have announced they will be joining forces to present, Liberatum Artistry,an exciting three-day event celebrating the power of art and creativity. Taking place on 13-15 March 2015, under the inspirational backdrop of Art Basel, the event will coincide with the start of Hong Kong’s busy Spring art season, as the city begins to embrace a creative spree.
“We have a long history of supporting cultural and artistic endeavours and this is also our third year sponsoring Art Basel,” said Guy Bradley, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. “We are therefore thrilled to collaborate with Liberatum to bring such a captivating and internationally acclaimed creative gathering to Hong Kong this year, enabling exchange in the blooming local arts scene,” he continued.
In a highly anticipated partnership with Swire Properties, Liberatum, an internationally renowned cultural and multimedia brand, will present a multi-disciplinary programme, including the global premiere of Artistry and Technology, an insightful new film which explores the impact of technology on creativity. Directed by Pablo Ganguli and Tomas Auksas, the film features the following renowned talents in the fields of film, design and art: Ed Ruscha, David Hockney, Frank Gehry, Francis Ford Coppola, Susan Sarandon, Francesco Vezzoli, Marc Quinn, MIA, Jonas Akerlund, Brett Ratner, Kehinde Wiley, Marcel Wanders, Daniel Arsham, Simon de Puryand Miranda July to name just a few.
The film will premiere at the opening reception of the Swire Properties Lounge at Art Basel on Friday, 13 March, to kick-start the Liberatum Artistry programme. The film will subsequently be available online atvimeo.com/liberatum, youtube.com/liberatum, www.liberatum.org and www.swireproperties.com from 30th March 2015.
The three-day programme will also include a Gala Dinner on 13th March at The Upper House, Pacific Place, held in honour of the Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon. Flying into Hong Kong for the event, Susan will personally receive the Liberatum Cultural Honour for her outstanding contribution to cinema.
On Saturday 14th March, the Liberatum Culture event will feature a series of specially programmed talks at the Swire Properties Lounge at Art Basel, including An Artistic Life which will see Susan Sarandon discussing her incredible career. Hans Ulrich Obrist, curator, historian and Director of Exhibitions and International Programmes for the Serpentine Gallery will discuss the impact of technology on creativity today with Peruvian born American interdisciplinary artist Grimanesa Amoròs, English installation artist and filmmaker Isaac Julien and Swiss Auctioneer, Artist, Photographer and DJ Simon de Pury.
Sunday 15th March will see Liberatum host a special talk with style icon and fashion designer Victoria Beckham at The Upper House at Pacific Place. This Liberatum In Conversation will be followed by a cocktail reception at The Upper House.

Liberatum Cultural Honour for Susan Sarandon
The Liberatum Cultural Honour, in partnership with Swire Properties, will be presented to Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon in tribute to her stellar acting career, at a Gala Dinner at the Upper House, Pacific Place on 13th March 2015. The exclusive event will be attended by members of the arts, cultural, design and creative community, as part of the Liberatum Artistry summit.
