Swire Properties Shares “Homemade Happiness” at White Christmas Street Fair 2016

Swire Properties today kicked off the White Christmas Street Fair 2016 with an opening ceremony at Tong Chong Street in Taikoo Place. The Company’s signature annual community event, which will run between 1 and 3 December, aims to engage the local community during the festive season and raise funds for Operation Santa Claus. Over the past three years, the Company has raised more than HK$3 million for this charity campaign, and attracted thousands of visitors to Tong Chong Street.

Swire Properties’ Chief Executive Guy Bradley officiated at the opening ceremony of the Street Fair, along with Hugh Chiverton, Head of English Programme Service at RTHK and the official representative of Operation Santa Claus, as well as a special appearance by Santa Claus himself.

“The White Christmas Street Fair has become one of our favourite traditions for the local community,” said Guy Bradley during the opening festivities. “We’re now in our fourth year of hosting the Fair, and we decided to spread the Christmas cheer by hosting a dual celebration, with an earlier teaser event at the Starstreet Precinct in our Pacific Place neighbourhood. Echoing this year’s theme of “Homemade Happiness’, we’re returning to our home base Taikoo Place with a truly homespun celebration, involving not only our staff but also tenants, NGO partners and Swire group companies, who have invested their time and resources to raise funds for this worthy cause.”

The three-day Street Fair presents an array of handmade products and festive treats for the holidays, including 25 booths featuring unique Christmas shopping, handicraft workshops supported by the Swire Properties Community Ambassadors, festive food and drinks spearheaded by Swire Hotels’ EAST, Hong Kong and Swire Restaurants’ Mr and Mrs Fox, as well as live entertainment all day long. The proceeds from all of these activities will be donated to Operation Santa Claus. Another major highlight this year is a snow covered playground at Tong Chong Street, which will feature Hong Kong’s first ever outdoor snowball fight.

Held on 3 December, the annual Santathon Challenge will go digital this year, using the festive edition of Swire Properties’ newly launched TaikooGo mobile app. The “Santathon TaikooGo Challenge 2016” will see 400 parents and children form teams and dress as Santa for a treasure hunt, exploring the biodiversity and heritage of the Taikoo neighbourhood, and completing fun mini games and winning prizes along the way.

A week prior to the Tong Chong Street Street Fair, a teaser event in the Starstreet Precinct was held between 25 and 26 November, featuring festive delicacies and products from more than 10 restaurants, cafes and lifestyle stores in the Pacific Place neighbourhood.
