Taikoo Li Sanlitun Celebrates 10 Years of Success

Swire Properties’ development launches a series of celebratory events in August,
including a photo gallery chronicling its ten-year transformation

Taikoo Li Sanlitun, Swire Properties’ first completed development in the mainland, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of special activities – with one of the highlights being the "10 Years of Innovation Propels 10 Years of Growth” photo exhibition. This showcase offers visitors an exclusive look at the concept behind, the planning and development history of this fashion and lifestyle destination; and includes a specially commissioned documentary featuring interviews with the project’s designers, planners and architects.

Located in the heart of Beijing’s Chaoyang District, Taikoo Li Sanlitun is renowned for its innovative, open-lane and low-density design inspired by the city’s traditional ‘hutong’ and ‘Siheyuan’ architecture. Complementing its unique layout are the latest retail and F&B concepts, exciting activities and numerous events. Combined, these elements have made Taikoo Li Sanlitun one of Beijing’s most iconic lifestyle destinations, popular with locals and tourists as the place to meet, shop and dine.

The photo exhibition, at Taikoo Li Sanlitun North, is divided into four sections – “Milestones”, “Optimisation & Upgrading”, “Arts & Culture” and “SD 2030” – and offers insights into how
Swire Properties’ careful planning of this commercial complex has ensured that it is the epitome of historic Beijing and an icon of this thriving modern metropolis.

As part of the 10th anniversary celebration activities, visitors can also experience the critically-acclaimed exhibition Shoes: Pleasure and Pain – presented by Taikoo Li Sanlitun and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (V&A) – this summer, from now until 26 August at The Red.

What’s more, the development recently hosted the "Young Art Festival" from 27 July to 1 August; with 10 artists from different backgrounds immersing visitors in magnificent performances in multiple art forms, at the Deck. This initiative continues Swire Properties’ efforts to support young talent and make arts and culture available to local communities.

Photo Exhibition at a Glance

The exhibition offers four themed sections: “Milestones”, "Optimisation & Upgrading", “Arts & Culture” and “SD 2030”. "Milestones" showcases the project’s key moments over the past 10 years; “Optimisation & Upgrading” focuses on the transformations taking place at Taikoo Li Sanlitun, including facility upgrades, the introduction of new brands and the optimisation of property management systems; “Arts & Culture” sheds light on how the “Let’s Play Fashion” theme has made the development a must-visit and leading lifestyle destination that hosts some of the city’s trendiest cultural events and activities; and finally, “SD 2030” highlights the project’s commitment to sustainable development and its interactions with local communities.

One of the exhibition’s highlights is the 20-min documentary that includes over 20 interviews with the designers, planners and architects, as well as Swire Properties’ senior management, who created the concept behind Taikoo Li Sanlitun. They also share insights into the project’s key milestones.
