Swire Properties a Lounge Host of Art Basel’s debut show in Hong Kong

Swire Properties is pleased to announce its partnership in Art Basel’s first edition in Hong Kong, a premier art show for modern and contemporary works which will take place from 23 to 26 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

As a Lounge Host, Swire Properties will present its VIP Lounge with a connection-themed design, which takes its inspiration from Hong Kong’s dense urban fabric and hidden corridors. The lounge will feature more than 170 architectural miniatures suspended in mid-air, a reflection of the abundant building facades lining the streets of Hong Kong. Vivid images of the city’s landscape and public spaces can be viewed inside these floating miniatures. Guests can visit Swire Properties’ VIP Lounge at Level 1 Concourse, opposite the Hall IC entrance of HKCEC during Art Basel’s opening hours.

“Our Company’s philosophy of developing connected communities has led us to create public spaces where arts, culture and creativity can thrive, bringing new ideas and experiences to the public,” said Martin Cubbon, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. “By sponsoring important arts events such as Art Basel, we also hope to facilitate artistic exchange and stir public interest in Hong Kong’s arts scene.”

“In this lounge, we invite visitors to discover, or rediscover, the colours and textures that characterise the city’s urban landscape,” said Marc Brulhart, owner of Marc & Chantal design, who were commissioned for the project.

Complementing a season of exciting art and cultural events in Hong Kong, Swire Properties’ ArtisTree is hosting “Hong Kong Eye”, an exhibition of Hong Kong contemporary art, throughout the whole month of May. Twenty-four emerging and established local artists have presented their work in a range of media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and installation, in a showcase of the city’s rapidly evolving art scene.

As a staunch supporter of local arts and culture, Swire Properties has been a committed patron of world art pieces displayed in the Company’s various retail and office premises for public enjoyment. It also actively supports the local art scene, helping to showcase and promote the works of promising local artists.
