Swire Properties Sponsors Beijing Music Festival “Urban Series”

Liu Sola and Friends Perform “Chinese Blues”

Swire Properties was proud to present “The Heaven & Earth Totem”, the opening concert of the “Urban Series” for the 18th Beijing Music Festival (BMF) at The Orange in Taikoo Li Sanlitun on Monday.  Liu Sola and her pioneering Chinese band “Liu Sola & Friends”, opened the “Urban Series” with the world premiere of several of their songs, treating the audience to a musical feast using traditional Chinese instruments in a varied repertoire of blues, jazz, rock & roll and even reggae.

A Golden Sponsor, Swire Properties has joined hands with BMF since 2011 to host the “Urban Series” concert every year at The Orange in Taikoo Li Sanlitun, which has helped bring an incredible variety of musical experiences to neighbourhood communities.

In the weekend prior to the concert, Swire Properties and BMF invited Sola and her band members to a special interactive community event in Taikoo Li Sanlitun’s new multipurpose space, The Red. During the event, Sola shared with her fans her love of folk music and related how the band mixes both Chinese and Western elements into their music.

“This year marks the 18th anniversary of BMF, and the sixth year since Swire Properties has partnered with the festival,” said Guy Bradley, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. “As a leading developer, we aim to create places where people can live, work and enjoy themselves. We very much believe that arts and culture is the heartbeat of a happy neighbourhood, and over the years we have taken pleasure in hosting great music and cultural events in Taikoo Li Sanlitun.”

“We are proud that Beijing Music Festival has come of age, and has become a highly anticipated event for the general public in recent years,” added Long Yu, Artistic Director of Beijing Music Festival. “This partnership with Swire Properties has given us a great way to bring BMF to local communities, and by doing so, wonderful music into people’s daily lives. Over the past few years, both organisations have collaborated closely and successfully in presenting a variety of musical performances and community activities. We hope to take our future collaborations even further as a bridge to connect art and life, in order to enable more music lovers to discover and enjoy international musicians and their work.”
