2007 Highlights

By setting major objectives and targets in areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, training and education, as well as social responsibility in 2007, we highlight the following:

Energy Efficiency Achieved an estimated energy saving of 3,383 MWh in 2007, which equates to a total reduction of 2,712 tonnes of CO2e emission.* Conducted a 'Best in Class' benchmarking exercise with leading property developers in Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom. Installed Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) for Air Handling Units (AHUs) at Festival Walk, saving over 450 MWh of energy which equates to over 260 tonnes of CO2e emission per annum. Completed our first Green Roof pilot project at Festival Walk. * CO2e emission = electricity saving (kWh) x emission factor (CO2e/kWh). The emission factors used are 0.58kg CO2e/kWh and 0.836 kg CO2e/kWh as advised by China Light & Power (CLP) and Hongkong Electric (HKE) respectively in May 2008.

Waste Management Launched an Electronic Waste Recycling Campaign targeting our commercial tenants. An automatic waste recycling compactor was installed at Festival Walk, thereby increasing the amount of paper and plastics recycled to over 900 tonnes.

Training and Education Introduced an Environmental Procurement Portal which provides employees with environmental guidelines on procurement of building products. 81% of our employees attended an Environmental Awareness Training session. Conducted 49 Basic Safety Awareness Training sessions for 94% of our frontline employees. Launched the Pre-work Exercise Ambassador Training Workshop and trained a total of 24 supervisory employees to be Ambassadors to lead daily stretching exercises for frontline employees.

Social Responsibility Contributed over 3,250 service hours of volunteer work through the Community Ambassador programme as part of our commitment to social responsibility.
