Long committed to enhancing
HK's status as the "World City of Asia", Swire Properties
("Swire") submitted a proposal to the Government in
1999 on the redevelopment of Kai Tak, expounding a holistic
vision that will rejuvenate, green and connect major public
open spaces for greater social and environmental benefits.
Following the Court of Final Appeal's ruling in January 2004
against further reclamation around the Harbour, the Government
embarked on a complete review of the planning for Kai Tak. Swire
fully supports the Government in its commitment "to make
sustainability principles a cornerstone of policy making in
Hong Kong" and ensure the redeveloped Kai Tak area becomes
an entirely new urban experience based on these principles.
We are pleased to have submitted this Concept Masterplan to
help facilitate a meaningful debate in a full and open consultation
process. |
