Safety Training and Awareness
To achieve our target of a zero accident rate,
health and safety training is of paramount importance,
particularly for our frontline employees.
Our health and safety training programmes can
be categorised into three main types:
|
Chau
Ho Yin, Employee: The Basic Safety Awareness
Training is a very effective programme. In particular,
I enjoyed the case review section as it was practical
and applicable to my job. |
Basic Safety Awareness Training
This aims to give an introduction to health and safety
knowledge for all frontline employees.
The chart below shows that the most common accident
types in 2007 were associated with manual handling and
slip, trip and fall. Therefore, our Basic Safety Awareness
Training focuses on the correct method and posture to
adopt in manual lifting, and related hazards. In 2007,
49 training sessions were conducted for 94% of our frontline
employees.

Pre-work
Exercise Ambassador Training Workshop
Wai
Yiu Kei, Andy, Employee: I found the Pre-work
Exercise Ambassador Training Workshop very useful
in terms of promoting the awareness of physical
fitness to work safety. I enjoyed many aspects of
the workshop, in particular the lecture on the human
physical structure. |
In order to enhance the physical and mental readiness
of our frontline employees, expert speakers from the
Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong were invited
to design and facilitate a Pre-work Exercise Ambassador
Training Workshop. Two sessions of the workshop were
held in 2007 at which 24 supervisory employees were
trained and they are now qualified to lead stretching
exercise at daily briefings with frontline employees.
The workshop will be rolled out in all our premises
in 2008.
