The proposal envisages a waterfront landmark based on the successful Eden Project, situated in the UK, which enjoys over 1 million visitors per annum and have contributed £800m to local economy since 2001.

Such a destination could become a world class attraction at the heart of Island East, bringing significant cultural and tourism benefits, affording visitors a unique place to relax, to be at one with nature, and to enjoy and learn more about Hong Kong's geographical heritage as seen in its flora and fauna.

The Eco-Park theme would be anchored by a sustainable eco-centre comprising outdoor gardens and indoor biomes, to be complemented by core facilities for education, presentations and seminars, plus a full complement of related social and catering amenities.

Providing a highly desirable bookmark on the eastern shoreline, the benefits of the visionary Eco-Park theme would impact the lives of school children, office workers, residents and visitors alike and help to promote sustainability awareness in the community.

Not standing alone, the Eco-Park theme would also form the central hub of a holistic and cohesive stretch of harbourfront, affording access for pedestrians to green sky bridges that would span various levels of expressways and tunnel entrances, creating a gradual transition for pedestrians between different sections of the park. In addition, a weather-protected walkway and a street-level, tree-lined connection would provide alternatives to ensure that pedestrians had a variety of routes to and from the area.
