EnvironmentEfficient Use of Energy
Since 2001, when we first adopted a systematic approach to managing our energy consumption, we have implemented measures to reduce our annual energy consumption and annual CO2 emissions by approximately 14 million kWh and 9,900 tonnes respectively. Knowledge Based Energy Management
Building on our experiences gained over the past five years, we have moved on to focus on the systematic collection and analysis of operation energy performance data. With this we are able to better formulate our energy saving strategies. In 2006, we started piloting the collection and storage of data from our Building Management System. Software prototypes have been developed to monitor the performance of our air-conditioning systems. Three pilot studies to improve energy efficiencies of our air-conditioning system have been successfully carried out (Table 1). Those initiatives will be applied to our other buildings. Influencing Stakeholders
Building on our own knowledge, we have started to more proactively influence our stakeholders to improve their energy performance. Energy Consumption in 2006
Energy initiatives taken in 2006 allowed us to achieve energy savings up to 3.5 million kWh per year. However, the overall electricity consumption in our managed commercial properties and residential buildings increased in 2006 (Table 2). This was largely due to the substantial increase in occupancy rates at our portfolio centres and office complexes. Table 2.
