Plat du Jour Restaurant by Swire Hotels opens at TaiKoo Place

Swire Hotels is pleased to announce the opening of its new French bistro, Plat du Jour. Located at 17-21 Hoi Wan Street, the restaurant is the latest addition to the fast-developing TaiKoo Place dining scene.

Plat du Jour is the first standalone restaurant to be owned and managed by Swire Hotels. The 60-seat restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner daily and will offer authentic French regional cuisine. The design of the restaurant adds a modern twist to traditional Parisian style and was conceived by Hong Kong architectural and interior design practice Zangellini & Holt Associates. The interior offers a cozy bistro atmosphere with burgundy leather banquettes and mosaic tiles on the entrance floor and is ideal for business gatherings as well as private social occasions.

In keeping with the restaurant’s name, which means “dish of the day”, the menu features daily changing specials and was created by David Laris as part of his long-term collaboration with Swire Hotels. The Australian-Greek David Laris is renowned for his culinary success at Mezzo, Sir Terence Conran’s flagship restaurant in London, as well as for developing concepts such as The Fat Olive, Laris at Three on the Bund and the BellBrook.

Plat du Jour will feature classic bistro dishes such as steak tartare, boeuf bourguignon, moules marinières and tarte tatin. Guests may choose two courses at HKD185 or three at HKD235 and afternoon tea will also be served. The restaurant follows Swire Hotels’ sustainable dining principles: in addition to sourcing food from sustainable sources, the restaurant will use quality local ingredients wherever possible.

“Plat du Jour in TaiKoo Place is the first stand-alone restaurant owned and managed by Swire Hotels. The bistro’s uncomplicated style reflects the neighbourhood vibe, and with the creative and culinary expertise of David Laris, we are confident that the restaurant will offer authentic and high quality French cuisine to our guests,” said Brian Williams, Managing Director of Swire Hotels.

David Laris added “Plat du Jour was inspired by an unapologetic love of classic French bistro dishes. The whole process of creating the menu for Swire Hotels’ latest venture has been a voyage of rediscovery, and I am confident that our guests will enjoy that same experience.”
