Into the Wild

Into the Wild

Designed by William Chang—Oscar‑nominated Hong Kong production and costume designer and film editor—the 2026 Swire Properties VIP Lounge marks the designer’s first art‑led spatial installation. Renowned for his cinematic sensibility and graceful command of visual language, Chang brings a new dimensionality to space through form, material and light.

Set against sweeping views of Victoria Harbour, the installation introduces a natural sensibility into the HKCEC’s architectural setting. "Into the Wild" comprises approximately 4,000 finely crafted ‘blades’, each rising in slender, multi‑faceted form and finished in vivid blue, red and mirrored surfaces. Together, they form an immersive field animated by shifting colour, reflection and light as surrounding conditions change throughout the day.

The gently curving blades draw inspiration from Chinese silvergrass, a fast‑growing, native plant that transforms Hong Kong’s countryside into luminous fields each autumn, embodying strength, adaptability and uplifting vitality.

Within this immersive "field", the Lounge continues to host Swire Properties’ Dialogue Series, presenting conversations with leading voices in arts and design. The installation functions not only as a visual experience, but also as a spatial framework for exchange – where art, creativity, and dialogue intersect.
