Mrauk U

Location : HONG KONG
Artist : Frank Fischbeck

Like his idol Cartier Bresson, renowned freelance photographer Frank Fischbeck went everywhere with his Leica camera and would discreetly take the most candid of photographs – as he once did of Charlie Chaplin at Kai Tak Airport. Evolving from a refinement of the merits of One and Two Pacific Place, Three Pacific Place is ergonomically and ecologically in step with advanced modern construction techniques. Yet like a matrix that both embraces and nurtures far earlier and historically distant origins, it also reminds us that its roots are firmly planted in Asia. The grand entrance to the building embodies towering illuminated photographic wall that draws upon archetypical cultural landmarks of two classic periods of Asian cultural history. "Angkor" is signified by the serenely benign stone faces surmounting the ruins of Ta Prohm. "Mrauk U" is symbolised by granite carvings of the Buddha lining the walls of Ka Thaung temple.
