Oak Spheres

Location : HONG KONG
Artist : Alison Crowther

“Oak Spheres” comprises two separate, solid globes, both carved from the ‘butt’ of a single, enormous English oak tree. Each is approximately 1.35 metres in diameter, and weighs about 1.5 tons. Together they evoke a three hundred years of history of the original tree, which stood alone in the middle of an open field near the cathedral city of Salisbury, its branches opened wide to celebrate the sky, wind and rain.
