Swire Properties Sponsors Shanghai Sport For All Public Project

Swire Properties announced today the sponsorship of Shanghai Sport For All project, becoming the first corporation to bring this project to Jing’an District in Shanghai. A sponsorship signing ceremony was held by Ainsley Mann, Swire Properties’ General Manager of Shanghai & Eastern China and Ashley Jones, Executive Director of Sport For All on behalf of the two parties at Shanghai Rugby Football Club and was officiated by Lu Qian, Bureau Vice-Chief of the Administration of Sports of Jing’an District, Shanghai.

“Swire Properties has long been committed to building vibrant communities and supporting education,” said Ainsley Mann. “The old Minli High School building is of historical importance to both Jing’an District and our Dazhongli mixed-use project. We are therefore very proud to be able to introduce Sport For All project to Minli School through the sponsorship. The enthusiasm of the students today was wonderful so it’s a pleasure to be able to give them an opportunity to take part in such activities. We very much welcome the opportunity to participate with Minli School and other schools in the district in more community events in the future.”

Under the support of the Shanghai Jing’an District Board of Education and Administration of Sports, Sport For All entered Jing’an District from September, 2012. Two hundred and fifty students, between the age of eight to 15, from Shanghai Minli High School and Shanghai Jing’an Primary School are the first group to participate in the project. The weekly professional sports training sessions has been scheduled into the new school semester. Students will be having many opportunities to engage in fitness courses and hold friendly match at the Club. Teachers and students from Minli School jointly attended the signing ceremony. After the ceremony, a trial training was offered to the students by professional coaches from the project team.

Sport For All project was initiated by Shanghai Rugby Football Club in September 2009, providing systemic sports coaching to primary and secondary school students in Shanghai. In addition to arranging professional training on football, soccer, baseball, cricket, and tennis to the schools, Sport For All allows students to utilise the over 40,000-sqm sports ground and facilities. Through participating in various sport trainings, students can build a healthy physique, develop a good sense of sportsmanship as well as team spirit. At present, nearly 20 schools in Shanghai have participated in the project, benefiting more than 4,000 students.
