Rediscover the Wonders of Christmas During the White Christmas Street Fair 2017

Swire Properties’ annual community celebration returns to

the Starstreet Precinct and Tong Chong Street with all-new elements

Swire Properties officially kicked off the White Christmas Street Fair 2017 today, its annual festive event that brings together the Starstreet Precinct and Taikoo Place communities to raise money for Operation Santa Claus, and to celebrate the end of the year with interactive attractions, food and drink, live entertainment, Christmas shopping and more.

The Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, which took place at the Starstreet Precinct, was officiated by Swire Properties’ Chief Executive Guy Bradley; and Head of English Programme Service at RTHK and the official representative of Operation Santa Claus, Hugh Chiverton.

A dual celebration featuring the theme “Rediscover the Wonders of Christmas”, the Street Fair takes place from 24 to 26 November at the Starstreet Precinct, and from 30 November to 2 December at Tong Chong Street, Taikoo Place. Now in its fifth year, the annual Street Fair revolves around community engagement and raising funds for charity; with Operation Santa Claus – which supports local and regional NGOs – as the beneficiary.

“The White Christmas Street Fair is a Swire Properties tradition, and this year we’ve made our celebration bigger and better to immerse visitors in even more Christmas-themed activities, while raising money for a great cause,” said Guy Bradley, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. “The event is especially significant as this is the first time we’ve invited the wider community to participate and make the Street Fair a reality. This shared experience is a fantastic opportunity for us to build stronger bonds with our stakeholders, and ultimately more cohesive communities around Hong Kong.”

Highlights of the White Christmas Street Fair include an iconic 20-foot-tall Gingerbread Man Balloon at both sites, as well as more than 50 booths offering Christmas shopping, DIY activities and mouthwatering treats. A multitude of well-known artists and groups will also give live performances throughout the Street Fair. Visitors should remember to try out Hong Kong’s first-ever, life-sized Gingerbread Man Foosball Machine at Tong Chong Street, and sign up to take part in the Gingerbread Man Foosball Challenge to win prizes and raise money for a great cause!

This is the first year that Swire Properties’ residents and tenants, from the Starstreet Precinct and Taikoo Shing are participating in the Street Fair; and they are hosting booths which sell Christmas-themed gifts. The Taikoo Place Buskers – the talented office tenants of Taikoo Place and Cityplaza – will also be giving musical performances. Swire Properties Community Ambassadors, Swire Properties’ volunteer initiative, are selling upcycled handicrafts and hosting DIY workshops.
