Cityplaza Boosts Customer Experience with More Than 10 new Eateries and Shops in 2018

Joining New Anchor Tenant MOViE MOViE Cityplaza

Cityplaza is pleased to announce that more than 10 new eateries and shops will progressively open in the mall in 2018. Spanning restaurants, chic fashion, kids’ apparel, sportswear and trendy lifestyle and beauty, these new retailers will join the 20 shops already added since 2017 as part of Cityplaza’s tenant enhancement programme. The mall also recently saw the grand opening of its new anchor tenant, MOViE MOViE Cityplaza, described as Hong Kong’s first lifestyle cinema, and will soon see the launch of a new incubation programme aimed at helping local startup enterprises.

New outlets opening at Cityplaza in 2018 include LEGO® Certified Store, sports and lifestyle labels ASICS and Vans, beauty care label Melvita, and F&B offerings Glasshouse and On-Yasai, one of Japan’s most popular shabu shabu restaurants.  Other new shop openings will include Japanese fashion retailer NorieM, Japanese kids’ label As Know As Ponpoko, and fashion accessory outlets Melissa and ORiental TRaffic.

“We continue to redefine the shopping experience for all our shopping malls in Hong Kong, reimagining the retail concept and use of space to deliver fresh experiences and attractions for our broad customer base,” said Fiona Shiu, Deputy Director, Retail (Hong Kong) at Swire Properties.

“Cityplaza is the largest shopping mall on Hong Kong Island and continues to be a big draw for shoppers. With the ongoing improvement to our tenant mix, we now provide a more diverse selection of F&B, lifestyle and entertainment options that helps bring our ‘LIVE HAPPY’ slogan to life. We will continue to curate an eclectic and exciting mix of outlets to provide our customers with a fun and relaxed shopping experience.”

Anchor tenant MOViE MOViE Cityplaza provides a brand-new cinema concept in Hong Kong. The complex features seven theatres, all equipped with the latest projection technology and sound systems, and state-of-the-art designs. The premium 270-seat “MOViEMAXX” is Asia’s first theatre to feature Barco’s Flagship high contrast 4K laser technology and AuroMax 3D sound system. It also features a 14-seat VIP House, “MM MOMENTS”, and “House by Kubrick”, a multi-functional art space serving artisanal coffee that will play host to a series of cultural events, including film festivals, movie premieres and exhibitions.

Another exciting happening in 2018 is the launch of a new incubation programme, “Maker House”, at Cityplaza starting from May. This six-month programme, being run in collaboration with The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, will give three aspiring social innovation startups, all engaged in sustainability-related businesses, valuable experience in running a business in Cityplaza. The Cityplaza team will also offer advice on business modelling and marketing. Local lifestyle and houseware brand Pomaru will be the first to open their pop-up store in May.

“We are excited about launching ‘Maker House’, an initiative under Swire Properties’ Sustainable Development 2030 strategy, which will help us create further synergy with the community by helping young entrepreneurs - our partners of the future - get their fledgling businesses off the ground. I am sure they will all bring something new and exciting to the Cityplaza mix, reinforcing the mall’s unique lifestyle-driven positioning,” said Aileen Chan, General Manager, Cityplaza.
