BOOKS for LOVE @ $10 To Offer 200,000-Plus Books and Special Themed Activities

Highlights include installation art, busking, a parenting talk, storytelling, and more

Swire Properties’ popular “BOOKS for LOVE @ $10” charity book sale will officially kick off tomorrow, 25 April. With a record 200,000-plus books on offer, all at HK$10 each, along with a host of special activities themed around arts and culture, sustainable development, music, parenting and more, this is set to be the event’s best and most diverse year to date.

Co-organised with The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) and the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS), the Company’s ninth annual charity book sale will transform Taikoo Place into a vast book repository until 28 April.

Among the many highlights this year, book lovers should drop by the Dr Louis Cha (aka Jin Yong) corner at ArtisTree and explore his popular martial arts novels that have helped shape contemporary Chinese literature; or browse the 1,000 new titles donated by MUJI BOOKS.

A host of interactive programmes will also be available including: storytelling sessions for children in English and Cantonese, performances by Hong Kong superstar band “Dear Jane” and a talk for parents hosted by child development expert Dr Agnes Chan, and more.

Before hunting for great reads, visitors should remember to ‘check in’ and snap a selfie at the giant “Love in Bloom” eco-art installation – co-created by Sustainable Fashion Designer, Angus Tsui and 200 volunteers – which aims to raise awareness of environmental protection.

The event kickstarted in February with a two-month book drive, and during the past few weeks, approximately 1,200 Swire Properties Community Ambassadors, and BGCA and AVS volunteers have been sorting books to prepare for the charity sale.

All funds will go to BGCA and AVS – specifically to assist BGCA’s “Treasure Trove” child development project, and AVS’s efforts to develop volunteerism in Hong Kong.
