Swire Properties Ranks No. 1 In Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index For Fifth Consecutive Year

Swire Properties has topped the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index (HSSUS), ranking No. 1 for the fifth year in a row. The Company achieved the highest total score amongst over 500 assessed Hong Kong-listed companies and maintained the highest rating of “AAA”, which was only awarded to two companies this year. This achievement underlines the Company’s deep levels of commitment and its ambition to become the leading sustainable development performer in the real estate industry.

The Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series provides the benchmark for sustainability investments, recognising Hong Kong-listed companies that perform well with respect to corporate sustainability. Swire Properties received the highest scores amongst all assessed stocks in three of seven core assessment criteria, including “Labour Practices”, “Fair Operating Practices” and “Community Involvement and Development”.

The Company was also listed in the Hang Seng ESG 50 Index for the third consecutive year, showcasing it as one of Hong Kong’s top 50 ESG leaders.

“We are delighted to be recognised once again as the top performer in sustainability in Hong Kong,” said Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. “This recognition is significant and encourages us to continue our efforts to incorporate sustainability into every facet of our business, as we work towards achieving our ambitious science-based targets to help limit global warming to 1.5°C.”

This top ranking follows on from Swire Properties’ launch of the Green Performance Pledge (GPP). The Company will work closely with office tenants, offering them access to innovative technologies, tools and advice to improve their environmental performance. “We are taking the initiative to engage our partners to join hands in fighting climate change,” said Tim Blackburn. “The GPP is one of many  initiatives. We are delighted that tenants occupying 25% of the total lettable floor area across our entire Hong Kong office portfolio have already committed to join the programme, which they see as a great platform to help achieve their own sustainability and ESG goals.”
