Official launch marks emergence of a vibrant new fashion and lifestyle destination in
West Nanjing Road District
HKRI Taikoo Hui, Shanghai’s newest fashion and lifestyle landmark, celebrated its official launch today with a grand opening ceremony held at its mall.Mr Lu Xiaodong, Deputy Chief of the CPC Jing’an District Committee and Jing’an District Governor and Mr Zhou Haiying, Jing’an District Deputy Governor were in attendance to celebrate the opening and officiate the ceremony together with Mr Victor Cha Mou Zing, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of HKR International Limited (“HKRI”), Mr John Slosar, Chairman of Swire Properties Limited, Mr Guy Bradley, Chief Executive of Swire Properties Limited, and Mr Jackie Tang, HKRI Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of HKRI Taikoo Hui.
HKRI Taikoo Hui officially welcomed guests from Shanghai and further afield with a full-day opening celebration themed “Dare for More”. Vibrant live performances at the North Piazza brought a chic vibe to the opening ceremony while an exciting light installation further hiked the ambience, with the festivities continuing throughout the mall for the rest of the day.
A New Lifestyle Destination in Shanghai
Jointly developed by HKRI andSwire Properties, two Hong Kong-listed companies, HKRI Taikoo Hui is the last major development in the Nanjing West Road District. A large-scale, mixed-use development, HKRI Taikoo Hui comprises a shopping mall, two Grade-A office towers, two luxury hotels and one serviced apartment building.
Featuring a diverse trade mix of more than 250 brands, HKRI Taikoo Hui offers a range of lifestyle and dining options and provides over 10 dedicated spaces for exclusive events and activities, contributing to an immersive shopping and entertainment experience for customers.

A Diverse Retail and F&B Experience
Built in the spirit of Eastern China’s “Dare for More” motto,HKRI Taikoo Hui is home to an array of retail tenants, ranging from fashion, beauty and accessories to lifestyle and dining, many of which are making their debut in Shanghai or Mainland China. More than 90% of the space has been leased out, while over 80% of shops have opened their doors in the mall.
Since its soft opening in May 2017, the mall has witnessed the opening of the largest city’super store (4,000 sqm) in Mainland China, SpaceCycle, a yoga and spinning class studio, and the flagship store of electronic auto brand NIO. Coming soon is Starbucks Reserve Roastery (2,700 sqm), the first of its kind in Asia, which will officially open its doors in December 2017. Disney opens its second store in Mainland China where it offers limited edition products designed by Chinese artists.
Another special highlight is the unique beauty corridor which houses more than 20 beauty brands, one of the few shopping malls in Shanghai to provide such a comprehensive line-up of standalone beauty and skincare stores, some of which feature exclusive spa services. Featured among the brands are CHA LING under LVMH Group, Atelier Cologne and Natura Bisse, all of which are making their debut in Mainland China.
In keeping with its status as a lifestyle destination, HKRI Taikoo Hui is home to a diverse range of dining, with 45 eateries offering more than 13 types of international cuisine. These include Shanghai Club, the premium brand under Jardin de Jade,Paris Blanc, a grill house managed by Paris Group, and Hong Kong Michelin-starred congee and noodle specialist Ho Hung Kee, all of which are making their first appearance in the region. CINKER PICTURES, a cinema house offering a unique movie experience with gourmet food and wine, is also making its debut in Shanghai.
A Premium Business Address
The two Grade-A office towers, HKRI Centre 1 and HKRI Centre 2, are the first projects to obtain the Core and Shell LEED® Platinum Pre-certification in the Jing’An District. The towers have become the location of choice for many Fortune 500 companies, who have chosen them as the base for their Mainland China or Asia Pacific headquarters, alongside multinational and domestic companies from a well-balanced industry profile, including financial institutions, legal firms, fashion brands and companies from the pharmaceutical and technology sectors. Around 80% of the office space has been leased out or committed. The first office tower opened its doors in December 2016 and tenants began moving into the second office tower in July 2017.
HKRI Taikoo Hui also features two hotels, The Sukhothai Shanghai managed by HKRI and The Middle House, managed by Swire Hotels, as well as “Cha House”, a revitalised historical building. All are expected to launch soon.
A series of exclusive events have been organised to commemorate the grand opening of HKRI Taikoo Hui. Apart from the lighting installation AQUASTELL created by French artistsat the North Piazza, there will be another exciting light installation at the South Piazza, the HKRI Taikoo Hui X YOHO SPOTLIGHT Talk, an interactive Digital Land exhibition and a street fashion exhibition hosted by GRAZIA. Following its official launch, HKRI Taikoo Hui will continue to host an exceptional range of activities to offer truly unique experiences for a wide spectrum of customers.
