Taikoo Place Named as Winner at 2020 ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence

Taikoo Place is delighted to be chosen as a winner in the Urban Land Institute (ULI) 2020 Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence.

The awards programme recognises the full development process of a project, honouring those projects in the region that have demonstrated excellence in land use as well as the highest standards of sustainable development and resilience, which impact the surrounding communities.

According to the jury, Taikoo Place was recognised for the model it provides as a long-term urban regeneration project, and for its outstanding contribution to improving its local community, which earned Taikoo Place an award under the “Legacy” category.

A total of 13 real estate development projects from across the Asia Pacific region were selected as winners this year, with only two awarded from Hong Kong. The winners were announced at the ULI Asia Pacific REImagine virtual conference on 2 September 2020.

"We're honoured to receive this award from the ULI," said Don Taylor, Director, Office at Swire Properties. "Taikoo Place is progressively taking shape as one of the world's Global Business Districts. The opening of One Taikoo Place and our pioneering work in placemaking has cultivated a healthier and happier integrated community, supported by great amenities and a wide range of wellness programmes which continue to lead our ongoing transformation of the district. As a major stakeholder and long-term investor in Quarry Bay, we're excited to continue our visionary masterplanning of Taikoo Place with the upcoming launch of Two Taikoo Place, bringing the latest and greatest of triple Grade-A office space to the district, and reinforcing its position as a unique commercial hub with a vibrant, sustainable community."

Swire Properties has invested HK$15 billion in the Taikoo Place Redevelopment project, which includes the addition of two new triple Grade-A office towers, offering 2 million sq ft of premium office space. Following the successful launch of One Taikoo Place in 2018, the completion of Two Taikoo Place in 2022 will mark another key milestone of the development.

Other highlights of the redevelopment include the addition of 70,000 sq ft of landscaped open space, namely Taikoo Square and Taikoo Garden, designed by London’s award-winning landscape architects Gustafson Porter, as well as air-conditioned elevated walkways designed by renowned architect Hugh Dutton, to further enhance connectivity in the district. Complementing these are a host of arts and culture offerings presented in ArtisTree, a unique venue for the visual and performing arts, as well as diverse tenant programmes and sustainable development initiatives for the wider community.
