Sustainable Development Policy

1. As a developer, owner and operator of mixed-use properties, Swire Properties Limited (the “Company”) is committed to operating in an environmentally, socially, and economically responsible manner. The company has set out a vision to be the leading sustainable development performer in the real estate industry globally by 2030.  

 

2. It is the policy of the Company to:  

 

(a) reduce its carbon emissions through the establishment and implementation of near-term targets that are aligned with the science-based targets (SBT) and long-term targets to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050;  

 

(b) turn today's waste into a resource for tomorrow, contributing to the creation of a circular economy, where waste materials are no longer simply thrown away, but are retained and re-used as a future resource;  

 

(c) use water responsibly and sustainably;   

 

(d) be a good steward of the natural resources and biodiversity under the Company’s influence and ensure that all potential adverse impacts the company’s operations might have on the environment are identified and appropriately managed;  

 

(e) safeguard the health and safety of all Company stakeholders, with the ultimate aim of causing zero harm;  

 

(f) strive to be an employer of choice by providing an environment that celebrates diversity in which all employees are treated fairly and with respect and can realise their full potential;  

 

(g) source materials responsibly and sustainably, including selecting suppliers and contractors who promote sustainable development and encourage them to implement similar policies;  

 

(h) encourage customers to use the Company’s products and services responsibly;   

 

(i) bring value to the communities of which we are a part, through ongoing engagement and investment, and enhance their capabilities while respecting their culture and heritage;  

 

(j) empower employees to be proactive on sustainable development matters at work and in the community;   

 

(k) engage stakeholders regularly to understand their views and concerns, and to work with them to promote sustainable development in the real estate industry; and   

 

(l) monitor the company’s performance and report regularly.  

 

3. The Company will review this Sustainable Development Policy from time to time as appropriate, and in any event, once every three years.
